Apple has recently launched new MacBook Pro laptops with M2 chipset. And now multiple YouTubers are claiming that entry-level models of Apple’s latest flagship laptops have slower SSDs than last year’s models with the M1 chipset.
Videos posted on Max Tech and Created Tech explain that entry-level M2 MacBook Pros come with SSDs that are twice as slow as models with M1s. Both models have 256GB SSDs, and the YouTubers who made the claim used the Blackmagic Disk Test tool for speed testing. According to the results, the new SSDs have about 50% slow read and about 30% slow write speed.
Meanwhile, relatively slower SSDs are only found in entry-level M2 MacBook Pro laptops. Although they may seem slow in numerical comparison, users will not notice much difference in real life usage, but when MacBook uses SSD disk as virtual memory, it is possible for applications running using this memory to slow down.
