Nokia, once the world’s largest phone maker, had withdrawn from the market for a while. Returning to the market at the end of 2016 under the umbrella of HMD Global, Nokia did not have a significant share in the phone market, but the company; 5G has taken prominent steps in sustainability and human rights issues. Accordingly, HMD Global received the sustainability award.
HMD Global receives platinum sustainability rating
EcoVadis 2022 awarded HMD Global a platinum rating for its sustainability efforts. EcoVadis lists its sustainability efforts as follows; environment, labor and human rights, ethical and sustainable procurement. This means that Nokia and HMD Global have succeeded in being among the leading companies in sustainability.
HMD Global will hold Nokia’s license for a few more years. It is not known what the future of Nokia will be after the end of the HMD Global agreement, but HMD Global manages to attract attention with the steps it takes abroad.
