Samsung is one of the companies that are trying to adapt to the electric car world. Samsung SDI, which signed an electric car battery deal with Tesla last year, began to expand its electric car operations. Recent reports have indicated that the Korean company will begin mass production of batteries for both Tesla and BMW.

Samsung will produce batteries for Tesla and BMW

Samsung, which started to produce EV batteries to deliver to Tesla in its factories in South Korea last year, decided to increase its battery investments. The latest information from Korea shows that Samsung SDI will open a new production line in Malaysia.

It is stated that Samsung is working on two battery designs, one for BMW. Although the name of the other company was not mentioned in the report, it should not be ignored that it is currently working with Tesla. The report also claimed that Samsung has begun mass-producing the two cylindrical battery designs.

Samsung, which previously developed an electric car battery for Tesla and presented it to the company as a prototype, is now working on a special battery design for BMW. It was stated that the battery, which is 46mm in diameter and 80mm in height, is shorter than the battery produced for Tesla.

It should not be overlooked that a formal agreement was made between Samsung and BMW some time ago. Although the content of the agreement was kept secret, it was stated that Samsung will produce OLED panels for BMW models. Within the scope of the cooperation, it was said that the German manufacturer wanted 4 million screens.

Tesla and Samsung’s partnership is based on multiple industries. In addition to the electric car battery partnership made last year, signatures were also signed for the cameras of Cybertruck and Semi models. According to the agreement, Samsung is expected to produce fully functional cameras.
