Aleksander Larsen, one of the founders of Sky Mavis, which developed Axie Infinity, said that they took full responsibility for the Ronin hack.
“These were the players who trusted us and we failed to fulfill that trust,” the senior executive told CoinDesk.
Aleksander Larsen, COO of Sky Mavis, the company behind the Axie Infinity game, apologized for their incompetence in the attack that cost $625 million.
Sky Mavis had switched from the Ethereum network to the cheaper, faster but more centralized Ronin network. Sky Mavis was responsible for the network.
Larsen admitted that it was the road to “progressive decentralization” as they were unable to move fast and as a result left users vulnerable.
Sky Mavis will add more validators to prevent further exploits.
Larsen said they were replacing the stolen money and raising funds from outside:
Larsen described the events as a “nightmare” and emphasized that he thinks the industry will grow against hacking attacks.
