Since the NFT culture began to spread, the viral and cult ‘works’ of the internet have been sold one by one. These include Vine videos, ‘memes’ and parody songs that we still make at least smile when we see them. An internet work that has earned its owner a substantial amount of money has also recently been sold as NFT. Especially those who have used Vine in the past are quite familiar with this work.
When the longed-for social media platform Vine first became popular, there was a child who participated in the videos here and became a symbol of dissatisfaction and disgust: Chloe. The little girl, the video of which went viral years ago, as she stared at what was happening next to her in bewilderment, humiliation and dissatisfaction, once again ate the bread of her unique expression. The family, who sold the video shot in 2013 to a music company, earned tens of thousands of dollars from here.
The video that Chloe went viral with her gaze, sold for 25 Ethereum:
Chloe’s mother, Katie, was unaware that while she was filming her children with her camera, as she had done before in 2013, she would create a “meme” that would later reach cult status. Katie was uploading videos of her children to YouTube to show them to relatives living far away. Again, one day, the mother, who took the camera without even thinking of going viral, made a surprise to her daughters sitting in the back seat of the car: “We are going to Disneyland!”
When the eldest child of the family, Lily, learned that they were going to Disneyland for the second time, she started to cry with joy. 2-year-old Chloe, trying to understand what was going on, looked at one of her sisters with pity and disgust; and to the camera.
This video first went viral on YouTube, then began to be used in Vine videos. The video, which currently has 20 million views, has recently found a buyer as NFT. The video, named ‘Side Eyeing Chloe’, that is, ‘Side Eyeing Chloe’, was sold to Dubai-based music production company 3F Music for 25 Ethereum.
The Clem family earned about $74,000 from this sale. Katie Clem said that the video was sold at a very low price when looking at the NFT sales prices of other memes; however, he stated that they are still grateful and that they are happy to do this as a family. The family’s decision is to ‘HODL’ the Ethereum they have obtained, to keep it in case it rises in the future.
