One of the biggest reasons why it is preferred is the security features that it frequently emphasizes in its advertisements. However, it is not known whether it is just advertisements or whether Apple really ensures security.
The words of Johnny Lin, one of Apple’s former engineers and co-founder of software company Lockdown Privacy, are strong enough to cast doubt on Apple’s perception of security. As a matter of fact, the feature that Apple puts forward most in advertisements and promotions is the security feature on iPhone devices.
“What happens on iPhone doesn’t stay on iPhone”
With the slogan “What happens on your iPhone stays on your iPhone”, Apple also assured about the reliability of iPhone devices, emphasizing privacy and security in many of its advertisements. In April, the launch of the feature that allows users to ask applications not to monitor their data has also fully reinforced this perception.
According to a study by Lockdown and The Washington Post, clicking the ‘app don’t follow me’ option makes no sense. Popular iPhone apps continue to collect personal data, even if users ask apps not to collect their activity from other companies and websites, the research found. Johnny Lin, a former Apple engineer and co-founder of Lockdown Privacy, viewed this issue as a useless bullshit where the ‘app don’t follow me’ option only satisfies users with privacy.
