Honda and Sony announced that they signed a joint venture agreement in March 2022. As a continuation of this agreement, it has been announced that a company will be established for the sale of electric vehicles and mobility services.
The name of the new company is Sony Honda Mobility Inc. While it was announced that the company will be established in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, with a 50 percent partnership structure. The company, which will start operating with a capital of 10 billion yen, will focus on products and solutions that meet the needs of consumers by bringing together expertise in the fields of technology and engineering under the partnership agreement of both brands.
Honda and Sony expertise come together for mobility
Honda’s up-to-date environmental and safety technologies, mobility studies, vehicle manufacturing technology and after-sales service expertise will be utilized. On the Sony side, it is aimed to benefit from next-generation mobility services that are compatible with imaging, sensing, telecommunications, network and entertainment technologies, users and the environment.
Honda and Sony, which plan to complete the establishment of the new company in 2022, announced that they have started working on the sale of electric vehicles and the implementation of mobility services in 2025.
