A post-apocalyptic young man telepaths with his dog: A Boy and His Dog (1975)

Avid science fiction readers must have heard of the American writer Harlan Ellison. Ellison’s book A Boy and His Dog, which made important books in the 60’s and 70’s when the genre started to shine, was adapted for the big screen by LQ Jones in 1975 with the same name. Set in a post-apocalyptic time, the film is about a young man’s struggle to survive with his dog, to whom he is telepathically attached.

Modern HBO series original of the hit story: Westworld (1973)

HBO’s Jonathan Nolan Everyone has heard of Westworld, a science fiction series directed by and his wife, Lisa Joy. So, did you have any idea about the original movie that inspired this production? Michael Crichton, one of the screenwriters of Jurassic Park, is in the director’s chair in this production, which is also a guest of our list from the 70s. Starring Scarlett Johansson and Shared by Jeremy McWilliams, Under the Skin is inspired by Michel Faber’s novel published in 2000. In the production where Johansson plays a woman who seduces and hunts men in Scotland, the character’s self-discovery process takes an unexpected turn.

What if your dreams turn into real memories? Total Recall / Recall (1990):

Everyone knows the movie based on Philip K. Dick’s book Blade Runner, but at least The movie Total Recall, adapted from another equally cult story, We Can Remember It for You Wholesale, has lagged behind a bit.

Bringing together names such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sharon Stone and Michael Ironside, the film tells the story of Douglas Quaid, who gets service from a company called Recall that turns dreams into real memories. Quaid, who wants to get rid of his boring life, finds himself in a completely different alternative.

Donnie Darko / Dark Journey (2001):

Although it is known by the audience, it’s time for a production that is followed passionately by its fans. Jake Gyllenhaal, one of the popular actors of today, also takes part in the lead role of the production, which is perhaps the only film in which Richard Kelly has managed to show himself.

The movie begins when a mentally unstable high school teenager, Donnie, narrowly escapes a strange accident. Manipulated by a man in a big (and silly) bunny suit, Donnie’s chaotic life of love, the end of the world, parallel universes and wormholes is about.

Special tip for Star Wars fans: Screamers (1995)

Now it’s time for another Philip K. Dick adaptation . Based on Dick’s Second Variety story, Screamers takes the audience back to the days of an interplanetary war. In the movie, a commander goes to a devastated land to negotiate a peace deal; It tells the struggle for life that he falls into when he discovers that the robots they designed to kill their enemies have gained “sensitivity”.

Good science fiction doesn’t always come out of Hollywood! Casshern (2004):

80’s classics Enemy Mine / My Enemy (1985):

Oscar nominee for Das Boot Wolfgang Petersen’s Enemy Mine is one of the classics of the 80s. Adapted from Barry Longyear’s 1979 award-winning novel Hugo, Nebula and Locus, Enemy Mine is about two enemy pilots from different planets having to fight together. Forced to crash-land on the volcanic planet Fyrine IV, one of the pilots is an Earth soldier and the other is a reptile from planet Dracon.

If you go back in time with a time machine and cross it with yourself… Los cronocrímenes / Time of Crime (2007):
