Big technology companies have to take the necessary precautions against deepfake content and fake accounts on their platforms. It was stated that companies that do not comply with EU rules will be subject to “serious fines” and even have to be removed from the European market if necessary.
According to an EU document leaked online, deepfakes and fake accounts will be addressed as part of the European Commission’s fight against fake news. It is expected that the rules on disinformation will be transformed into a system that will be applied throughout Europe.
