Houston-based aerospace startup Venus Aerospace has announced the Stargazer, the company’s first conceptual hypersonic spaceplane design. The company has raised a total of $33 million in funding for the development of the aircraft that will travel at Mach 9.

Hypersonic aircraft will be able to fly for 1 hour. Stargazer, with a width of 30 meters and a length of 45 meters, will weigh 68 tons. Designed with a passenger capacity of up to 12 people, the space plane will be able to accelerate up to Mach 9 at the current altitude after rising up to 51.8 kilometers. It is stated that the hypersonic aircraft can take off and land from a conventional airport.

Venus Aerospace said it is working on three key issues: a zero-emissions next-generation rocket engine, innovative aircraft shape, and pioneering cooling systems that allow spacecraft to take off from existing spaceports using existing infrastructure.
The company stated that Stargazer’s first ground test is not expected to take place until 2025 at the earliest, while mentioning that tests should be conducted for at least five years to ensure safety, reliability and performance.
