As HDDs with slow read and write speeds are being replaced by SSDs today, a new decision of Microsoft has emerged. Working on technologies such as DirectX Storage, which receives support from NVME SSDs for Windows 11, the company seems to accelerate the transition to SSDs.
HDDs can be left behind
According to the shared by Trendfocus, Microsoft, which has been in talks with OEM PC manufacturers using HDDs, is allegedly forcing these manufacturers to switch to SSDs by 2023. Although SSD technology offers much higher speeds compared to HDDs, we can say that the choice made can affect user budgets.
Trendfocus Vice President John Chen, who said that Microsoft plans to extend the decision taken for desktop computers and emerging markets until 2024, said, “In ready PCs that come with Windows 11, HDDs are positioned only next to the SSD. It looks like we’re going to the future,” he said.
Task Manager completely revamped in Windows 11
However In the near future, Microsoft may change the 64GB or more storage options in the system requirements of Windows 11.
