The Colombian army, carrying out missions to examine the San José galleon that sank during a war in 1708, shared new images of the sunken ship. It was stated that two more shipwrecks were discovered during the observation missions, except for the new images of the galleon, which is thought to be loaded with approximately 18 billion dollars of treasure.

New images came from the wreck

The Colombian National Navy dived into the wreck of the San José galleon at a depth of about 950 meters near the port of Cartagena, on the Caribbean side of Colombia, as part of four different missions using a remotely controlled vehicle.

During the missions performed, many valuable items were displayed in the wreckage along with gold ingots, silver, emeralds and coins. In the examinations, it was observed that the galleon was not affected by human intervention.

Stating that new ships were also found in the study, navy commander Admiral Gabriel Pérez: “We have two more discoveries in the same region that show other options for archaeological exploration. So the job is more. it’s just getting started.” said.
