After Elon Musk requested a more detailed report on spam and bot accounts, Twitter management is taking an interesting step. According to the claim in the Washington Post, Musk will access the programming interface called “Firehose”. This access will allow him to monitor the data stream containing more than 500 million tweets daily.
Anonymous sources speaking to the Washington Post said that the agreement between Elon Musk and Twitter will be completed with this access. Musk, who made a $44 billion offer to buy Twitter, still reserves the right to terminate.
In a recent settlement report to the SEC, representatives of Elon Musk said that they have the right to see bot or spam accounts on Twitter. Representatives stated that bot or spam account data should be accessed in order to prove the authenticity of the users on the platform and to make the right decisions during the purchase.
Tesla CEO, on the other hand, said that he would hold the deal until reports of spam or bot accounts are received. He even threatened Twitter to pull out of the deal if it didn’t share information about bot users. It looks like Musk got what he wanted with his final access decision.
Twitter previously stated that bots and spam on its platform account for less than 5 percent of its active users. Not convinced by this figure, the Tesla CEO said that the analysis method was “inadequate” and “must do his own analysis”.
Twitter shares are hovering around $40 after the allegations in the Washington Post. In April, when Elon Musk made the offer, it was $ 54.20.
