Apple has announced WatchOS 9, the next major software update for the Apple Watch. The company introduced new features coming to its smartwatch at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference event this evening.
New software brings new watch faces and fitness improvements to Apple Watch. Apple added stride length and ground contact time to Apple Watch to give runners more precise information about their performance. Heart rate segments are also coming to Apple Watch to help users better understand the intensity of their workouts. There’s also a new multisport training option so triathlon participants can easily switch between multiple workouts.
On the other hand, a new feature called Sleep Stages came to Apple Watch to detect which stage of sleep you are in. and his wristbands had this feature before.
watchOS 9 also brought “refreshed” watch faces. The Moon, which describes the relationship between the Gregorian calendar and the lunar calendar, which is used in many cultures such as China, Islam and Hebrew; Playtime, a dynamic artwork unique to Apple Watch created with artist Joi Fulton; The Metropolitan, a classic, text-based watch face that changes style as the Digital Crown is rotated; and Astronomy, a completely remastered and original face featuring a new star map and available cloud data.
watchOS 9 now also supports medication reminders. It will connect to the Health app and allow users to create a “drug list”. You can also scan medications to add them. It also helps users understand whether any of the medications they are taking may affect the other. You’ll also be able to review health data you’ve shared with others.
