Apple’s WWDC developer event is getting closer and closer. This event, which will be held between 6-10 June, aims to gather developers under one roof to discuss the intricacies of the company’s various platforms. Of course, this “gathering under one roof” part had to change a little during the epidemic period, but we can say that the result is the same.
As might be expected, during WWDC there is not much explanation and discussion about hardware and more focus is placed on software from the Apple ecosystem. So we have some idea of what to expect at the event.
iOS 16 – iPadOS 16
First of all, we can take a small look at the latest versions of Apple’s operating systems, iOS 16 – iPadOS 16. Our first look at iOS 16 will likely be with the early developer beta. So if you have an Apple developer account, you will be able to download it shortly after the keynote. Among the features that may come with the new update, the changes that Apple will make on the lock screen are among the most remarkable options.
Messages app may get many new social features and new voice messages functionality. It is estimated that the Health application of the iPhone will also gain new features.
iPadOS, on the other hand, seems to experience improvements in multi-functional capabilities to make the tablet operating system more competitive with laptops.
macOS 13
Although there is not much expectation from macOS 13, we encounter a potential and fun name with Mammoth. Apple filed a patent for this potential name for macOS 13 a few years ago. According to early rumors about the new OS, a long-awaited update to the Settings app may be made, and some key Apple apps may also get their own updates.
watchOS
On the watchOS side, new watch faces for the larger screen and an improved low-power mode are expected. The weakest area of Apple Watch compared to its competitors is still its battery, and it is hoped that an improvement will be announced here.
tvOS
tvOS had no place in the event last year except for the spatial audio plug-in, and it remains an important question mark this year. We probably won’t see the homeOS operating system that has been rumored for a while, but it may be possible for tvOS to gain updates for some automatic home functions.
…And hardware
There are rumors that M2 chips are coming soon after the release of the M1 chips and multiple versions that have had a huge impact on Apple. If these new chips are introduced, we can be sure that new hardware will be used for promotion. A new MacBook Air, which has been rumored for a while, may be the best candidate for this promotion. However, a new Mac Pro is not expected to be seen at the event.
