From time to time, we saw that the works were damaged for various reasons in museums or exhibitions, a close example of this was the attack on the Mona Lisa painting with cake. But while the world has just thrown the Mona Lisa attack off its agenda, it has faced another attack. The purpose of this attack was not to send a message like the Mona Lisa attack, but simply the resentment of a man who was angry with his lover.
According to the news reflected in the US press, a young man (we can also say a witch) smuggled into the Dallas Museum of Art last night and irreparably damaged many works worth more than $5 million. The reason for the attack by a 21-year-old teenager named Brian Hernandez was explained as ‘being angry with his girlfriend’.
5 million 153 thousand dollars worth of artifacts were destroyed:
According to the information shared by the US police, Hernandez broke the museum’s windshield with a metal chair and entered the museum. After that, Hernandez damaged many artifacts, such as statues and vases, and destroyed some completely. The balance sheet of Hernandez’s attack was announced as 5 million 153 thousand dollars.
The purpose of Hernandez’s attack was learned thanks to the officers who caught him red-handed. Seeing that the motion sensor alarmed when Hernandez entered, the officers found Hernandez inside the museum and asked what he was doing. Hernandez replied, “I got mad at my girlfriend and I started breaking in and hurting people.” it happened.
Officers then seated Hernandez on a bench and waited for the police to arrive. Police and officials investigating inside found that among the destroyed artifacts, there were also very rare and one-of-a-kind antique artifacts. In addition to the artifacts, a computer, a telephone, a bench and a sign also inflicted Hernandez’s wrath.
While the final photo of the artworks damaged in the said attack has not been released yet, Hernandez was sent to prison by the police on a $100,000 bail for committing a crime costing more than $300,000. Hernandez also admitted that he damaged the works during his interrogation.
