Qualcomm, Intel and Samsung may partner to buy ARM

ARM, which is used by companies such as Apple, Nintendo, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Huawei and Samsung, is going through an interesting process. ARM, currently owned by SoftBank, was in the process of being acquired by Nvidia at the end of 2020. At some point in this process, which was opposed by the regulators, Nvidia gave up on purchasing ARM. Although SoftBank states that it no longer intends to sell ARM, Qualcomm wants to own a large part of the company in different ways.

Can technology giants such as Qualcomm, Samsung and Intel merge and buy ARM?

After the cancellation of the $40 billion Nvidia sale, SoftBank stated that it no longer wanted to sell ARM. However, SoftBank is considering going public on ARM soon. In this direction, Qualcomm offered an interesting solution. Speaking to the Financial Times, Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon stated that he wants to invest in ARM. Then, Amon also stated that he is open to buying ARM together by establishing partnerships with its competitors. However, Amon stated that many companies should be in the acquisition process so that ARM can remain independent.

One of the companies that could buy ARM before was companies like Samsung and Intel, so the mention of a partnership by Qualcomm brings these companies to mind. In February, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger stated that they would like to join a partnership if a partnership was formed to buy ARM. Also, Gelsinger had been in South Korea with Samsung’s senior executives a few days ago, which may indicate that the partnership is starting to form. In this direction, it seems possible that ARM will be purchased with a large partnership, especially Qualcomm, Intel and Samsung, when it goes public.
