Pebbles, a Toy Fox Terrier dog, was born on March 28, 2000, so he is now 22 years old. And its owners say its new title doesn’t impress Pebbles. Pebbles, the oldest living dog in the world, also has a special taste for music.

Pebbles owner Julie Gregory of Taylors, South Carolina “She loves listening to country music while she sleeps.”

Pebbles weigh just 2 pounds. Julie Gregory says the family originally planned to adopt a larger dog, but her lively personality drew the family to them. He had 24 puppies from three births but lost his “wife” Rocky, another Toy Fox Terrier, in 2017. She has been on a cat food diet since 2012, as her vet said that cat food is richer in meat-based protein than dog food.

Pebbles received its certification in March, but the Guinness Book of Records tweeted about the subject just 2 days ago. Pebbles got this title from another country music-related dog, a Chihuahua named TobyKeith. TobyKeith was 21, and Pebbles’ human family realized that he was older.

Gregory said, “Friends and family messaged about a story they saw about a 21 year old dog taking the record. He started throwing and searching,” he said, “and I applied when I saw TobyKeith’s story all over the news.”

Owners say Pebbles are very healthy, but they never imagined they would become the world’s oldest dog. “We’re really honored,” Gregory says.
