Although AMD’s Mendocino APU series, which targets closer to mid-range laptops, hit the internet as the Ryzen 6000, the company may follow a different strategy. Sources state that the Mendocino design will be used in the Ryzen 5000 and Athlon series.

What will AMD Mendocino have to offer?

It was officially announced that AMD Mendocino APU models will scale up to 4 cores and carry RDNA 2 graphics units. Sources state that there will be different models in the form of 2 cores or 4 cores. Again, the graphics unit will have 128 stream processors. In other words, it will perform basic graphics tasks. On the other hand, it is stated that there will be up to 32GB of LPDDR5 dual channel memory and 4 PCIe Gen 3 lanes.

It was announced that the AMD Mendocino APU series will be used first by Lenovo Ideapad 1 laptop model and AYA NEO Air Plus game console. More similar laptop models will hit the market later in the year.
