Apple’s annual developer conference WWDC 2022, which is expected to make various announcements, including the next version of iOS, iOS 16, will be held in just a few days. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iOS 16 will be a “pretty significant upgrade”.

However, not all the changes coming to iOS 16 might catch everyone’s attention. For example, Apple is working on adding an always-on display feature to the next version of iOS. However, Gurman claims that, like the ProMotion display feature, the always-on display feature will be limited to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. While this feature may be particularly exciting for iPhone users who are planning to purchase next-gen “Pro” models, Android users have had the feature for years.

The always-on display, as the name suggests, ensures that your phone’s screen never turns off. The screen is always on to help you check the time and important notifications without touching the screen or unlocking the screen.

The next version of iOS, also according to Gurman, will bring a few new features to iPhone users in addition to keeping the screen always on. Updates to notifications, iPad multitasking, and the Messages and Health apps are just a few of the notable changes Apple plans to introduce. There will also be “major improvements for the lock screen”, including wallpapers with “widget-like features”. Unlike the always-on display, the aforementioned features may also come to the entry-level iPhone 14 and older iPhones.

According to previous rumors, Apple will make some radical changes to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Previously leaked iPhone 14 Pro images showed that the company might abandon the notch. However, this feature is expected to be limited to “Pro” models only. There are also rumors that the next-generation iPhone 14 will be able to send emergency text messages over satellite networks.

Apple will hold the WWDC 2022 event on June 6, and the developer event will run until June 10.
