At the Computex 2022 fair, Phison introduced the PCIe 5.0 SSD controller, which broke the new speed record, while China continues to break this record silently. Chinese competitors are quite ambitious in terms of performance.

Ambitious PCIe SSD controllers from China

In the past weeks, InnoGrit company announced the PCIe 5.0 SSD controller, which can reach 14GB/s read and 11GB/s write speeds. Now sie Deyiwei has equaled this record with 14.5GB/s read speeds.

Deyiwei controller can reach 12GB/s write speeds, while random access speeds reach 3 million IOPS. It supports all standards such as NVMe 2.0, OCP Cloud Spec 2.0, NVMe Partition namespace (ZNS), Open-channel SSD, ONFI 5.0.

Deyiwei plans to release its driver first on the server side. In 2023, along with AMD and Intel’s new generation processors, PCIe 5.0 SSD drive will be ready. Later, drives with lower speeds are planned to be released into the mainstream computer market.
