All countries in the world want to be strong in the military field. Because one of the most important factors that will defend the country in a possible war is the defense tools and ammunition at hand. So much so that one of the countries with the greatest power in this field is America. The USA, which has made good progress in the defense industry and military power, is now preparing to implement a very important nuclear project. While America is making important developments with space projects like Artemis, it will show this in its military power in a similar way.

Two prototype contracts were announced in the past weeks in the USA, which has been working intensively on nuclear weapons, “to demonstrate the next generation nuclear propulsion and power capabilities for spacecraft.” The announcement was made by DARPA, a government agency affiliated with the US Department of Defense. DARPA is the agency responsible for producing new technologies for the US military.

The first flight is expected to take place in 2027

The USA, which wants to make the most of new technologies, will set the bar higher in its targets thanks to DARPA. The organization, which made a new announcement for space on May 17, stated that the first orbital flight should take place in 2027. In the announcement, it was also noted that the contract will be made thanks to two companies, Ultra Safe Nuclear and Avalanche Energy.

Accordingly, in 2027, America is expected to show its new generation nuclear power for the first time in space. Ultra Safe Nuclear and Avalanche Energy, companies that will work in the earth-moon relationship (cislunar), will play an important role in demonstrating the US’s nuclear propulsion and power capabilities in this process. All these developments also signal that the US will focus more on space activities in the next 10 years.

If the United States is successful in these efforts, the propulsion systems of spacecraft will then be powered by nuclear energy. The project also means that possible future armed spacecrafts will also have nuclear energy weapons.
