The delivery date of the domestic helicopter engine TEI-TS1400 is being brought forward

TEI-TS1400 helicopter engine developed by TUSAŞ Motor Sanayii AŞ (TEI) will be delivered earlier than planned. Developed with national resources, the TEI-TS1400 engine will power national helicopters such as the Gökbey Utility Helicopter.

TEI Chairman of the Board and General Manager Mahmut Faruk Akşit, who made a statement at the TEKNOFEST Azerbaijan festival, said that the TE-TS1400 is planned to be delivered for manned flight tests before the end of next year, but the works are accelerated and this is the case. announced that it will be delivered at the end of the year or at the beginning of next year.

It can produce up to 1570 horsepower

Emphasizing that the engine can produce 1570 horsepower for a long time, TEI General Manager Aksit said:

“We designed an engine to produce 1470 horsepower during takeoff. These values ​​are approximately 100 hp higher than the current imported engine of the competitor. We increased our engine up to 1570 horsepower, even above it. There is an emergency take-off scenario in case it has to take off with an overload for certification and qualification. Normally, although the engine is designed at a maximum continuous power level of 1400 hp, it should be able to be operated to produce 1570 hp for 2 minutes and we need to show this to the certification authority. As of now, we have exceeded this power level, and we can operate at 1570 hp, not for 2 minutes, but for much longer periods. This is a nice turning point. We’re going to push the engine a little further forward. We will announce the developments as the tests are done.”
