Dyson is one of the leading home electronics brands in recent years. The company has now announced that it has a secret division that develops prototypes of robots that do housework.
Although none of the models are specifically specified by the company, most of them can be said to resemble regular robotic arms adapted for performing specific household tasks such as cleaning and tidying. For example, one of these robots appears to have been designed for the purpose of mapping a seat in detail, for vacuuming seat cushions.
Another robot is loading the dishes and another is holding a teddy bear. Dyson also demonstrated a “Perception Lab” that fully robotic vision systems detect its surroundings and map humans with sensors, cameras and thermal imaging systems.
One of the reasons why Dyson has now decided to introduce this secret laboratory at Hullavinton Airfield, Wiltshire, UK, seems to be that it aims to recruit approximately 700 engineers. The short statement from the company draws attention to these sentences: “What you develop is very important for excitement and for attracting engineers. One thing about robots, like wearable devices, is that they are the future of Dyson.”
