New PS5 update brings performance boost
Sony recently released the September update that brings many new features as well as M. 2 SSD support. The new update, which pleases console owners, seems to increase performance on some PS5 consoles.
As it is known, Sony has recently been on the agenda with its new console CFI-1100, which weighs less than 300 grams. The company announced that they have started production of the new PS5 and that the model will not have any performance differences from the existing PS5s. However, the data obtained after the new update says the opposite.
Getting the chance to test the new model, Digital Foundry found a small performance increase, especially in games, with the September software update installed on the console.
After the update, it was stated that there was a 2 to 3 percent performance increase in certain PS5 games such as Control and Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition. This means that there is an increase of about 1 FPS to 3 FPS in games.
In addition to the M. 2 SSD support in the September update for PS5, the innovations are as follows:
- It is possible to use the PS Remote Play application with mobile data.
- The 3D sound effect, which was only available with headphones until now, is now available for the built-in speaker of the TVs. You can have a more cinematic gaming experience with 3D sound support.
- The social experience has been improved: you can choose which notifications can appear in the corners of the screen. In addition, the feature that allows you to accept friend requests in bulk has been added.
- If you are using the same PSN account for both PS4 and PS5, a special icon will appear in your PS5 games.
- You can now choose between 720p and 1080p resolutions in PlayStation Now broadcasts.
- You will now be able to see the trophies you won on PlayStation 4 in a separate category on PlayStation 5.
