While instant messaging apps are more popular, there are billions of people using email services like Gmail. In mail applications that assign incoming messages to different folders according to their importance, all mails are sorted together. This sometimes makes it difficult to find an important message. Because the most recent mail appears at the top, the mail from months ago stays at the bottom.

Taking steps to solve this problem, Google added the ‘search filters’ feature to the desktop version of Gmail. Thanks to the filters that entered the lives of users in February 2020, it was possible to sort incoming messages according to different criteria. Not forgetting mobile users, the technology giant has started to offer the same functionality to Android devices.

Gmail will filter calls

The new feature, which Google calls ‘search filter chips’, has started to reach the Android version of the Gmail app. When users start searching for a word in the app, they will see the filtering options located below the search bar. Thanks to these options, it will be possible to sort the mails according to the following criteria:

  • From
  • Time
  • File include status
  • Sent to
  • Read status

So who will be able to benefit from the new feature? According to the statement made; All Google Workspace customers, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers, will be able to use search filters in the Gmail app for Android. Google has announced that it will begin rolling out the feature from September 20. He added that it may take up to 15 days to reach your phone. He also shared the information that the presentation will be completed by the end of October.

Gmail design has also changed

Google isn’t just adding new features to the Gmail app. It also constantly revises its design. In this context, the Material You design language introduced with Android 12 came to Gmail last year. In addition, the company, which continues to work on integrating Workspace applications with each other, integrated the video conferencing software Meet and Gmail. Currently, conferences can be held directly from Gmail.
