French automaker Peugeot introduced its new logo at a press conference in early 2021. The brand chose this logo as part of its rebranding and to mark a new era in electric car production. The brand now uses a lion’s head logo, reminiscent of its 1960s emblem, for the first time.
Radar technology is behind the new logo
Peugeot, which defines itself as the oldest surviving automotive brand in the world, has updated its logo for the first time in ten years. This new logo, on the other hand, showed itself for the first time on the Peugeot 308. Setting the standards again since the day it was introduced, the 308 is important in terms of using the brand’s new logo for the first time.
The logo on the front grille of the new Peugeot 308 draws attention with its advanced technologies. The brand’s logo not only highlights the design of the latest Peugeot model, but also provides information flow to the driving assistance systems with radar technology.
According to the company’s statement, the logo adapts to the 308’s design with its grill design and pattern supported by many chrome elements. In addition, the license plate was located at the bottom of the front bumper so that the grille design of the vehicle could show all its splendor. The driving support system is located behind the logo in order not to spoil the aesthetic appearance of the grille.
At the same time, the logo appears in two different versions on the new Peugeot 308. One of them is the Active version, the other is the Allure and GT versions with innovative driver assistance radar. Although these versions are the same in appearance, they differ technically.
Peugeot engineers took care not to disturb the waves emitted by the radar in order for the driver assistance system to work flawlessly. For this, they gave importance to the fact that the surface thickness of the new logo is constant and that the components that make up the logo do not contain metal particles in any way.
The production process of the new logo is a first for Peugeot
Peugeot’s innovative logo has a production process consisting of several stages. First, a seamless front panel with a constant thickness of polycarbonate injection appeared. A back panel made of indium is then produced. Indium, which is rare, is specially preferred because it is the only element that meets the needs visually and technically.
The sensitive production technique used in production has features that do not block radar waves and help it to provide a natural chrome appearance. With the laser engraving process, the lion symbol on the surface of the new logo is revealed. This phased production process is a first for Peugeot.
