The First Water Council, which was initiated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to determine short, medium and long-term strategies regarding water, also revealed Turkey’s water usage habits.
According to the results of the survey conducted by the Ministry in 26 provinces to determine the water consumption habits of Turkey, 96% of the respondents are of the opinion that “Serious measures should be taken in order not to experience thirst in the future”.
89% think that there will be thirst in the future
Within the scope of the survey conducted with the participation of 1200 people from 26 different provinces of Turkey, very disturbing results were obtained. According to the results of the survey, 96% of the respondents agree with the opinion that “Serious measures should be taken to avoid thirst in the future”, while 89% of the respondents think that there may be thirst in the future.
31% of those who participated in the survey and thought that they were paying attention to water conservation said ‘I am very careful’, while the remaining 52% said ‘I am a little careful’. According to the survey, which reveals that the age group of 40-45 pays the most attention to saving, people living in the Mediterranean, East and South East regions act more consciously about water conservation.
Crowded families, on the other hand, are more careful about saving water than small families.

Questionnaire that measures and analyzes individual and social sensitivities in order to determine water consumption behavior patterns; It clearly reveals that the concerns and uneasiness about water consumption are not reflected in savings.
Of those surveyed, 22% admitted to leaving the water on while brushing teeth and 52% washing hands. Again, 67% of the respondents stated that they prefer the program with prewash in the washing machine, while 43% noted that they run the machine before it is fully loaded.
The monthly average water bill determined as a result of the survey is 88 TL.
