A successful and long career doctor; He finally realized his dream of studying physics, which has always remained a ukde. Manfred Steiner successfully completed his PhD in physics from Brown University at the age of 89. Stating that this is his third and favorite doctorate, Steiner said that he always dreamed of being a physicist and that he is very happy to realize this dream now, weeks before he turns 90.

Realizing his interest in physics when he was a teenager, Steiner turned to build a career in medicine for himself on the advice of his family; However, he never gave up on his love for physics. “When I was a medical student in the early 50’s, I would sneak into the physics institute very close to the medical school and listen to some talks there because I was very interested in quantum physics, which was still new at the time,” said Steiner, who also regretted that he spent most of his life in the medical field of the academy. states that it is not.

Steiner wants to continue his work as long as his health allows.

Focusing on studying medicine and hematology at Tufts University and MIT in his youth, Steiner later became a professor of hematology at Brown University. After retiring from his medical career in 2000, Steiner finally decided to focus on the physics he had always dreamed of and started taking classes at MIT. Steiner, who took a lot of physics classes here before he was allowed to start his graduate education, later transferred to Brown. Stating that the path to his doctorate in physics “takes a long time”, Steiner said that although he faced serious health problems during this process, he was proud to have reached this point by overcoming all problems.

The physicists he works with also say Steiner’s latest achievement is inspiring. Steiner, who plans to publish a version of his thesis longer than 150 pages, wants to continue his research. Stating that he wants to continue as long as his health allows, Steiner’s current goal is to do some studies on theoretical physics. Steiner does not need a laboratory for this; He states that all he needs is a computer, pen and paper.

Steiner, who completed his third doctorate at the age of 89, achieving what most of us see as impossible, has a small advice for young people. “I tell all young people, if you have a dream, follow it. Don’t give up on it,” said Steiner, saying that if this doesn’t work, they can turn to something else; but he also underlines that they must first follow their dreams.
