TikTok, which has not lost its name on the agenda with its monthly active users approaching 1 billion, will now automatically detect and remove videos that do not comply with the rules of the platform, thanks to the newly added features.
The company has released a transparency update about content removed from the platform between April 1 and June 30, 2021. He said that he removed 81 million 518 thousand 334 videos during this period for violating community rules or terms of service. Actually, it’s not that big of a number. Because an average of 90 million videos are published daily in the application. In other words, only 1 percent of the more than 8.1 billion content published at that time has been removed.
What content does TikTok remove?
Thanks to new technology and algorithms introduced in July, TikTok automatically removes content that violates its policies regarding child safety, adult nudity, sexual activities, violent, uncensored content, and illegal activities. The company says that the software is very successful for controlling such banned shares. However, it should not be forgotten that there are special teams that personally check the complaints.
Of course, let’s not forget the serious accusations that happened in the past days. According to NewsGuard’s research, he said that due to TikTok’s algorithm, all users under the age of 18 have encountered videos that do not reflect the truth about Covid-19 and the vaccine process, from the moment they registered for the application. For this reason, the company said that in addition to the algorithms, it applies strict control over the teams it employs to deal with such complaints.
The company says that this new algorithm it has introduced is quite successful. In support of the data, he made the following statement:
Security breaches were the most common reason for 41.3 percent of videos to be removed. Our systems were able to detect and remove 94.1 percent of the banned content, which exceeded 80 million, without any user complaints. Moreover, it did so with a margin of error of only 5 percent. We hope that these rates will improve with the development of our algorithms in the coming period.
