In one of the latest in the heartwarming Final Fantasy 14 stories, a 69-year-old MMORPG publisher was visited in-game by the series creator.

Japanese Final Fantasy 14 publisher Pokochii Bigmum was trying to beat the final challenge in Pandaemonium Anabaseios, the newest and final raid in the current expansion Endwalker. The 69-year-old player was trying out the raid’s “Savage” difficulty, which is extremely challenging that requires extreme precision and team coordination to complete.

A few hours after the stream started, Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi went on the air and shared his encouraging words to the delight of those who watched Pokochii and its broadcasts. As reported via GamesRadar, Sakaguchi later confirmed on Twitter that the visitor was indeed him.

Sakaguchi, who is also an avid Final Fantasy 14 player, said he’s in the same spot as Pokochii in the raid and will have to “keep working hard” if he’s to complete one of the game’s most challenging pieces of content.

Pandaemonium is an 8-player raid series for Final Fantasy 14’s latest expansion, Endwalker. Its Normal difficulty is set to be beaten by casual players.

However, each raid stage, made up of four challenges released in every other major update throughout the expansion, also offers a Savage difficulty level that greatly increases the difficulty and requires players to know their quest in every detail as they tackle challenging mechanics. Also, each Savage fight has a “rage” timer, causing the entire group to lose the fight if not defeated within a certain time limit.

Therefore, Sakaguchi’s visit can be one of the best sources of encouragement. While the series creator didn’t work directly on Final Fantasy 14, he did appear alongside the MMO’s director and producer, Naoki Yoshida, during the official livestreams.

Final Fantasy 14’s final update 6.45 was released on July 18. Additionally, the game’s first in-person Fan Fest since pre-Covid-19 outbreak will take place on July 28 in Las Vegas.
