READING NOW 6 reasons not to buy an iPhone 14 when you have an iPhone 13

When Apple first introduced the iPhone 14 series, reactions ranged from excitement to disappointment. In particular, the iPhone 14 model has been criticized for being almost identical to the iPhone 13, although it comes with some new security and emergency communication features.

But if you’re using an iPhone 13, how logical would it be to get an iPhone 14? Here are 6 important reasons why you may not buy an iPhone 14…

1. iPhone 13 battery is already very good

If you’ve ever used an iPhone 13, you know that the battery life is pretty good. Apple decided to use a battery that is huge considering the size of the phone, and it has enough life for 15 hours of video streaming or 75 hours of audio playback.

Although Apple has increased the usage time a little more on the iPhone 14, there is not a huge difference. In fact, the iPhone 14’s battery has almost exactly the same capacity as the 13’s. Although Apple has extended the video streaming time by 1 hour and increased the audio playback time by 5 more hours, we cannot say that it is a big improvement over the previous model.

2. USB-C not available on iPhone 14 either

Another feature expected but not offered with the iPhone 14 is USB-C support. The latest iPhone lineup still uses the same Lightning connection offered since 2012. The EU has enacted the idea that all new phones must have USB-C connectivity, but this law won’t be in effect until 2024. It seems that we have to wait for a while for the USB-C connection, which we did not encounter with the iPhone 14.

3. iPhone 13 cameras are too good

If you’ve owned an iPhone released in the last few years, you probably know that the camera quality is pretty good too. Although some improvements have been made in the new camera module of the iPhone 14, only the iPhone 14 Pro models have received the largest update, the 48MP sensor. Models other than the Pro model have the same 12MP camera sensor as the iPhone 13. While the iPhone 14’s low-light performance is much better, how often you shoot in low-light situations will determine whether this relatively small detail is worth the extra price.

4. No 120Hz display again

Other expected but not offered features include a 120Hz screen refresh rate. One of the biggest innovations of the iPhone 13 Pro was Apple’s ProMotion technology. Unfortunately this feature has not been extended to the base iPhone 14 and thus still has the standard 60Hz value. Although Apple promotes the iPhone 14 as a “budget phone”, its price cannot be said to be very budget friendly for most people. Most of the current Android phones of similar price have a 120Hz refresh rate, and if you do not choose the Pro model, you will need to use a 60Hz display.

5. iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 have the same processor

Although the iPhone 14 Pro series uses Apple’s latest A16 Bionic chip, the regular iPhone 14 still uses the older A15 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 13 series. While the A15 is a pretty powerful chip, the fact that it’s not the latest lineup of chips from the company is another of the similarities the iPhone 14 has with the older series, making the iPhone 14 less attractive compared to the older model.

6. iPhone 13 is a cheaper option

Finally, as almost every year, the introduction of a new phone series means the price of the old series drops. With the introduction of the iPhone 14, the price of the iPhone 13 series has dropped a bit, which means you can forgo some minor improvements and get a phone with almost the same capabilities for less. Of course, it is not possible to say this for our country.

…and the result

In short, although there are many exciting innovations in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models, we can say that the other iPhone 14 models do not bring much innovation to the 13 series. Of course, as always, it’s up to you to decide whether the new models are worth the price or not.
