In the meantime, bad news from the World Health Organization (WHO) was not delayed. Emphasizing the rapid increase in cases in Europe recently, WHO warned everyone that the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Europe may increase by half a million by February.

Underlining that the number of COVID-19 cases in 53 different European countries has seen 78 million, Kluge said, “According to a reliable projection, this current trend means that half a million more people will die from Covid-19 by February. ” he said, expressing the seriousness of the incident.
Stating that this rapid increase in COVID-19 cases is seen in every age group, regardless of young or old, Kluge also underlined that the desired rate could not be reached in vaccination. Noting that there are more hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in countries where the vaccination rate is low, Kluge recommended that the decisions and strategies taken to prevent the pandemic should be reviewed again. In addition to these, Kluge stated that the relaxation in the measures taken to protect public health also contributed to the increasing number of cases.
