Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati, who made a statement yesterday, called on businesses that did not lower their prices despite the decrease in the exchange rate. Nebati said, “Prices will go down quickly. Or the one that is coming. . . The first fines have already been imposed on businesses after the statements “The stick of the Treasury and Finance”.

The Unfair Price Evaluation Board found the 20% increase in meat and cheese varieties in the markets unnecessary. Although there was no increase in costs, administrative fines were imposed on 5 chain stores that increased the prices of the products.

20% unnecessary increase, tens of thousands of lira fine

The Unfair Price Evaluation Board, which came together last Friday to evaluate the prices in the markets, took up to 20% hikes in meat and dairy products in some markets. The board, which inspects the markets one by one, has 5 markets with many branches throughout the country; A101, BİM, ŞOK, CarrefourSA and Metro were fined because the hikes were unreasonable.

The range of penalties to be applied is quite wide. The chain stores in question will be penalized between 14 thousand 860 liras and 143 thousand 860 liras, depending on the number of faulty products and how high their prices are.
