Quake, the game of the year, was released for PC as well as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The game includes many improvements such as increased lighting and resolution, but these advantages were not available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S models. Fortunately, things have changed.
Bethesda announced that Quake’s PlayStaton 5 and Xbox Series X upgrade is available for free to gamers. The team said the following on its website:
“We’re excited to launch Quake on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5. Anyone who purchases Quake on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 is eligible for a free upgrade on the same console family. Plus, free upgrades to Xbox Series X or Xbox It’s also available to Xbox Game Pass members with Series S.”
Quake can now run at up to 120 frames per second in 4K resolution on all 3 consoles. Yes, that means that even the new Xbox series sub-version Series S can render this game in 4K at 120fps. However, you will need to have a 120Hz display to see the benefits of the higher frame rate.
