WhatsApp is so easy to use that it has managed to become the staple of messaging for most families. However, it is still possible to encounter strange quirks in practice. Fortunately, the app is in the process of fixing 3 more of these woes with some new updates.
The first 2 improvements come with an iOS and Android update that is rolling out globally and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks. To take advantage of these improvements to surveys and photo sharing, you need to wait for the new version or check your app store for the latest update.
WhatsApp’s survey improvements are especially useful for social organizations. You can now create single-vote polls to prevent people from distorting results by using multiple votes. To do this, simply uncheck the “allow multiple answers” option when creating a poll.
Aside from surveys, the 2nd major improvement comes to the process of sharing photos or documents. Previously, forwarding photos or images to another group brought with it the potential problem of someone else responding before you had a chance to add significant context. Fortunately, you can now add captions to your photos and videos as you post, and edit existing captions based on the images you share. The same is true for document sharing; you will now have the option to add a title before sending documents.
While these 2 updates are surprisingly big upgrades for WhatsApp users, there will be a third update that will allow you to transfer your chat history to another iPhone without the need to use iCloud. A useful new feature has surfaced in the beta testing version of WhatsApp that allows users to transfer chats to another iPhone without having to go through iCloud.
This will come in handy especially for those who don’t pay for extra iCloud storage beyond the free 5GB limit. This limit could prevent you from transferring long chat histories to a new iPhone. However, thanks to this new method, it seems that the problem will disappear by allowing the transfer to be made within WhatsApp.
