Released in November 2020, Sony’s next-generation game console PlayStation 5 continues to dominate the market as a competitor to Xbox Series X/S consoles today. However, even 2 years after its release, the game console could not get the feature that the players have been demanding for a long time. Finally one of these features arrived today.
Sony has released a new update for all PlayStation 5 consoles worldwide. With the update, many important features have been added to the game console. One of these features was the 1440p (2K) video support that has been requested since the console was released.
All new features coming to PlayStation 5 console with the new update:
- Game lists that will allow you to add your games to a folder,
- 1440p resolution support,
- Game Base improvements,
- Game Help improvements,
- Better access to Ongoing Activities,
- Comparison of 3D sound and standard stereo sound
In addition to 2K resolution support, PlayStation 5 users now have features such as requesting Screen Sharing from people in their groups, viewing their friends’ profiles easily, and easily joining a friend’s game from group chat. The new update is available for download with a size of close to 1 GB.
Why is there 4K but not 2K?
As a matter of fact, PlayStation 5 supports both 1080p (Full HD) and 4K resolutions since the first day of its release. However, 2K resolution was not supported due to its unpopularity. Because almost all of the TV players use screens with either Full HD or 4K resolution; On the monitor side, the number of Full HD users was still much higher than the number of 2K monitor users.
