South Korean technology giant Samsung introduced the latest smartphone camera sensor at an event. This camera sensor, called “ISOCELL HPX”, has a resolution of 200 MP and offers advanced features.
When we look at the general features of the Samsung ISOCELL HPX, we see that 8K 30 fps video recordings can be made on the phones where this sensor will be used. The sensor, which will allow 200 MP photos to be taken when the conditions are suitable, automatically performs pixel grouping when the ambient light is disturbed. In this way, quality shots are taken even in dark environments.
4x lossless zoom is possible!
Samsung’s new camera sensor offers some advantages. So much so that this sensor will allow 4x lossless zoom. In addition, 12 MP resolution photos can be taken even when zoomed in 4x.
The Samsung ISOCELL HPX was introduced as a sensor with a pixel size of 0.56 micrometers. Thanks to its special technology, the sensor, which can group 16 pixels, will use each pixel separately when the conditions are good for 200 MP shooting. However, if shooting in a dimly lit environment, the pixels will form groups, and this time the pixel size of 1.12 micrometers, which offers 50 MP resolution, will be reached. In dark environments, 2.24 micrometer pixel groups that offer 12.5 MP resolution will be activated.
The protrusions on the phones will decrease!
In fact, Samsung has produced camera sensors that offer 200 MP resolution in the past. ISOCELL HP3 was one of them. One of the most important features that distinguishes the Samsung ISOCELL HPX introduced today from the ISOCELL HP3 is the module size. The ISOCELL HPX is 20 percent smaller than previous generations, according to the company. This means that the camera bumps will be slightly less.
Samsung has not made any announcements as to what will be the first smartphone with ISOCELL HPX. However, it will not be surprising to find this camera sensor on the flagship phones that Samsung will release in 2023. In addition, brands such as Xiaomi have switched to 200 MP in models such as 12T Pro. Along with Samsung, we can easily say that a few more brands will prefer this sensor.
