AirTag, which Apple introduced in April last year, brought many discussions with it. While some users used this small tracking device to avoid losing their belongings, some users wanted to use it with bad intentions. However, Apple officials claimed that with their statements and updates, they prevented AirTag from being a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands.

However, recently, the technology giant from Cupertino was sued by 2 women. The reason is that women’s obsessive ex-spouses secretly follow them because of AirTag.

AirTag turned into a weapon in the hands of obsessive ex-wives

The allegations made by the women who sued Apple are gruesome. The first victim, for example, claimed in a statement that she had secretly placed an AirTag in the wheel hood of her car after she had a fight and broke up with her ex. After a few days, the woman who gets AirTag alerts on her iPhone every time she gets in her car, after searching the car in detail, discovers the AirTag taped to the hood with a black bag, and a few minutes later she sees a mysterious man around her house. Seeing the man in the ski mask, the woman entered her home and allegedly checked the hood of the car to retrieve the AirTag.

The second AirTag victim is a woman who has struggled for years to get rid of her obsessive ex-husband. The woman, who claims that her husband is constantly trying to abduct her child, claims that she found an AirTag in her child’s bag and showed it to her mother. The woman, who later became suspicious of her ex-wife, also presents the conversations in which she confessed that her husband had placed several AirTags both in their car and in her child’s bag to track them.

Both women sued Apple for not putting enough protection on AirTag, which is “a boon for perverts and abusers,” and making it easy for malicious users.

Although Apple officials offer some security measures for AirTag, it seems that these measures still cannot stop malicious users. In addition, the authorities have not yet made an official statement about the case.
