Leaks from Intel’s highly anticipated 13th generation Raptor Lake series continue to increase as the release date of the processors approaches. Now, the performance of Core i9-13900, one of the flagship processors of the new series, has emerged.

Up to 20 percent faster

The Intel Core i9-13900 will have twice the core count of its predecessor, the i9-12900, and will be supported by both 600 series and 700 series motherboards. However, the new processor will be accompanied by 8 performance, 16 efficiency cores and 32 threads.

ExpReview, which managed to reach an engineering sample of the i9-13900 and conducted tests with a Z690 motherboard, states that the new processor works without the need for any BIOS update, but limits the maximum speed of the performance cores to 3.8 GHz.

Comparing the new processor and the i9-12900K model at the same frequency limits, the news source reported that the new architecture performed an average of 20 percent higher in multiple workloads. When it comes to gaming and single-thread tests, ExpReview says the new processor lags behind Alder Lake due to incomplete microcode and BIOS support.
