READING NOW 12.4GB/s speed with PCIe Gen5 SSD without massive heatsink!
Next-generation PCIe Gen5 SSDs enable us to reach unprecedented speeds in storage. We are currently in the middle of companies’ race for high-speed storage solutions, but there is a “small” problem. The growing number of cooling solutions in PCIe Gen5 SSDs is a concern. On the other hand, Patriot Memory and Viper Gaming remove this problem with the PCIe Gen5 SSD model they brought to Computex.

PCIe Gen5 SSD with no massive cooler

As with anything tech-related, being faster means generating more heat. The same goes for PCIe Gen5 storage solutions. We’ve now seen massive heatsinks, fans, and even liquid cooling solutions for these SSDs.

Introducing the Viper PV553 M.2 2280 PCIe Gen5 x4 SSD, the first PCIe Gen5 drive at Computex 2023, Patriot offers impressive sequential read speeds of up to 12,400MB/s (12.4GB/s) and 11,800MB using a low-profile heatsink. It made a show of strength by offering write speeds of up to /s (11.8GB/s). Although the cooler is small, it has a fan inside. Frankly, the small fan raises some questions in the minds due to the possible loud noise.

The exact release date of the Viper PV553 PCIe Gen5 x4 SSD is unknown, but the company says it will reveal this information soon. However, it should be noted that this SSD will be in different capacities from 1 TB to 4 TB.
