The owner of Kent PTSD

Kent is one of many villagers living in the town and unfortunately he himself has PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). While this isn’t exactly said, some of his actions strongly imply it. For example: he talks about a prison camp in the past, even a simple popcorn can surprise him, he has trouble falling asleep and does not like open spaces. Such examples can lead us to reach this conclusion.

Dwarfs (dwarves) destroyed by war

One of the disturbing elements in Stardew Valley is the secret war between dwarves and shadow people. This is a scenario you can learn if you dig into it a bit. You can also interact with a dwarf who approaches you suspiciously, believing you to be a possible spy from the shadow people. It is quite sad to learn that the existence of the dwarf race was destroyed by this secret war. Even the shadow people live miserably in the sewers.

Your animals can be eaten by wolves

Some people may have learned this the hard way, but others may be lucky enough to have never experienced it. If you accidentally leave one of your pets out at night and do not provide a way for them to return to a fenced area, you may wake up at night to the howling of a pack of wolves. The next day, your animals may look stressed out, as if something bad happened during the night. You will then notice that an animal is missing, so they were probably attacked by a stray wolf.

UFO may leave a strange capsule on your farm

Stardew Valley features a series of random events and secrets that occur on your farm over time. One particularly creepy one includes a UFO. After owning your farm for a year, there is a chance (1% chance) that you will see a UFO flying overhead and drop a strange capsule on your farm. To make things even weirder, the capsule’s description says there’s something “meaty” floating in the liquid.

Shane is severely depressed

When you first talk to Shane, you may think he is rude and cold and ignore it. But if you persist, their walls begin to crumble and the reason behind their behavior is revealed. The first event opens when you reach heart level 1 and says that he felt “stuck in a miserable abyss” and “couldn’t even see the light of day”. As the hearts progress, more and more sad things are revealed. While it is never clear that he suffers from depression, this is clearly the case.

Pam is an alcoholic

You have a chance to find Pam every night at the Stardrop Saloon. Sometimes he says very little and sometimes nothing (because he’s that drunk). He overturns the trailer he shares with Penny and leaves Penny to clean it up. His drinking problem got so bad that he stopped paying his bills, and poor Gus felt unable to confront him about it while struggling financially.

Clint is destined to be alone

Clint is another regular of Stardrop Saloon. He often makes statements that indicate he is alone, sits alone all night. In fact, he has feelings for Emily. If you sneak around her room, you might see a letter written for Emily but never sent. Moreover, if you marry Emily in the game, Clint will never find anyone else.

Alex has a tragic past

Alex may seem like the typical arrogant jock, but underneath all this behavior, he has a pretty sad history. During the four hearts event, Alex tells the actor the real reason he lives with his grandparents. His father was very abusive, a constant drinker, and abusive to Alex. When his mother gets sick and dies, he leaves Alex to live with his grandparents.

Wizard cheated on his wife and has a daughter

Everyone in town seems pretty friendly. But the Wizard is at the center of some serious family drama. In his dark talisman quest, he asks you to get the magic ink from the house of his ex-wife, who is a witch. She says she made a mistake that made her very angry, that she turned green and flew over the city leaving curses all over the place. But the point is, in a random conversation, he might tell you that he suspects someone in town has a daughter. I think we now know what this error is.

Pierre’s marriage is falling apart

If his livelihood is threatened by JojoMart and his family’s questionable status isn’t enough, Pierre may be experiencing marital problems. It must be a bit of a strain on the marriage to suspect that your daughter isn’t yours. Perhaps Pierre has his own secrets to deal with such situations. In the six-hearts event, you find what’s known as the “secret stash” hidden behind the bedroom bookcase. Meanwhile, Pierre catches you spying on you and asks you not to tell anyone. It is not yet clear what this stash is.

A dark and existential message is intended to be conveyed.

Your character starts a soulless job at Joja Corporation, and the so-called farm frees you from the burdens of modern life. But even in Stardew Valley we encounter capitalism. JojaMArt offers discounts that threaten Pierre’s small store and can even take over the community center depending on the player’s choice. We also spend hours growing our farms so we can buy more farm supplies and earn more money. Maybe the game is really trying to tell us that greed is inevitable. It’s pretty depressing when you look at it that way.
