10000Mbps threshold passed for the first time in DDR5 memory

Overclocking tests on DDR5 memory also reveal its potential. While the 10000Mbps limit is crossed for the first time, it is estimated that it will withstand the 15000Mbps limit in the near future.

With faster speeds and better energy efficiency than the previous generation, the boundaries of DDR5 memory technology continue to be pushed to unleash its potential. For the first time, 10000Mbps speeds were exceeded in DDR5 memory.

DDR5 memory record

MSI overclocking team Kovan Yang tested Kingston Fury Beast DDR5-4800 memory kits on MEG Z690 Unify-X motherboard. The Intel Core i9-12900KS processor was run at 400MHz and 1.253V to ensure stability in operations.

In tests, DDR5 memory hits 5001.8 MT/s or 10004Mbps, surpassing the 10000Mbps limit for the first time. Thus, 2.08 times better performance than the original was achieved. This memory model has hosted many record attempts before.

10000Mbps will of course not remain as the new limit. TEAMGROUP and ADATA will soon release DDR5-12600 memory kits with enhanced overclocking capabilities. With the new Intel and AMD platforms, the 15000Mbps limits are expected to be exceeded.
