Technology giant Apple has launched a $100 million funding round for App Store developers. This support, called the Small Developer Assistance Fund, came about as a result of a lawsuit that it lost after App Store commissions.

Apple begins paying iOS developers

The lawsuit filed by a number of software developers who had an app on the App Store last year resulted in Apple losing. According to the lawsuit, the developers began to worry about the revenues of their applications in the App Store and received less commissions. Apple, on the other hand, agreed to the Small Developer Assistance Fund to end the lawsuit.

It was stated that the technology giant has finally started this aid fund. Some software developers, who made statements on Twitter, received various amounts of payment. App Store developers who meet the criteria in the lawsuit are expected to be paid between $250 and $30,000.

Registration for Apple’s funding ended in May. However, developers who want to take advantage of the fund must have an app in the App Store with a paid or in-app purchase/subscription system between June 4, 2015 and April 26, 2021.

The agreement reached between App Store developers and Apple under the lawsuit also has some changes regarding users in addition to the Small Developer Assistance Fund. Apple is required to accept new pricing tiers and impose a 15 percent discounted App Store commission.

App Store developers argue that Apple has a “snow killer” policy. The lawsuit, filed in 2021, is based on another accusation that says App Store commissions and fees should be reviewed.
